I HATE linenbacking posters, but I LOVE Brigitte Bardot, and this extremely rare poster for La Lumière D'En Face (1955, Italian 55x79in) might benefit from a little spring cleaning. Still pondering the question.

May 2, 2013
Very, very slow right now. I haven't bought anything of interest since last year, just small things here and there to complete some areas of my collection.
The only thing I can think of is to celebrate the birthday of a little obscure movie that opened 30 years ago this month.

Nothing much to report since the beginning of the year.
Except that I finally got a chance to take some better pictures of the French posters I acquired in Nov/Dec last year. Here are 30 of them.

The Poseidon Adventure - 40 years ago this week (December 12, 1972)

November 10, 2012
Antoine et Antoinette (1947) (French, 63x94in, art by Romano)

November 1st, 2012
Gone With the Wind (1939) (French 1950 Original Release, 63x94in, art by Roger Soubie)
This is the extremely rare first version of this poster. It is signed Roger Soubie at top right.

Another quite rare, but slightly more common version, is signed D'Après Roger Soubie ("From Roger Soubie"), which is an easy way to differenciate original French posters from re-releases. This beautifully linenbacked version was borrowed from L'Imagerie Gallery and clearly display differences in color and tone.

First Blood - 30 years ago this week (October 22, 1982)

October 18, 2012
Gladiator (2000, US vinyl banners, 36x48in)
Banners time! These are not new. They were actually hanging on the walls of the DreamWorks commissary in 2000. But I never took the time to take a picture of them, which I did yesterday. Great character banners for a great movie.

Skyfall
French vinyl banners, 47x79in

October 1, 2012
Finally received this one. Linenbacked. Gorgeous. Perfect.
The Man from Laramie (1955, Italian 4 Foglio, 55x78in) (Art by Anselmo Ballester)

September 3, 2012
NYC subway posters (45x59in)

August 28, 2012
Still working on my Bardot collection, one piece at a time.
Here's an Italian poster for En Effeuillant la Marguerite (1956, 55x79in, on linen)

August 19, 2012
An American Werewolf in London (1981) - One of my favorite 80s flicks - Unless a new design pops up, I'm pretty much done collecting this title.

I also added a few Bardots in the past month... That brings my grand total to 101 pieces in a little more than a year of collecting on the actress.

May 17, 2012
A few Italians I recently acquired. Not everybody's taste, I know, but I really like them.
Capitan Fantasma (1953, art by Anselmo Ballester), Hamlet (1948, art by Ballester), The Black Rose (1950, art by Ballester), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (undated re-release, art by Enzo Nistri) and Sayonara (1957, art by Luigi Martinati)

March 6, 2012
Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963, Italian 4 Foglio, 55x78in) (Art by Laz)

January 30, 2012
Probably my most beautiful Bardot to date...
Tradita (aka Haine, Amour et Trahison, aka Night of Love) (1954, Italian 4 Foglio, 55x78in) (Art by Anselmo Ballester)

Bonnie and Clyde (1967, French 8 panels, 120x160in) (Art by René Ferracci)

January 5, 2012
Sick of Bardot yet? Don't be, for there is more to come (way more, hopefully).
Today's acquisition...

...joins the rest of my collection on Le Repos du Guerrier (Love on a Pillow, 1962)

December 8, 2011
A little obsessed with Bardot lately... I guess there are worse things to be obsessed about. Today, I acquired a few US lobby card sets. In order...
Les Bijoutiers du Clair de Lune (The Night Heaven Fell - 1958), Babette S'En Va en Guerre (Babette Goes to War - 1960), Voulez-Vous Danser avec Moi (Come Dance With Me - 1960), Vie Privée (A Very Private Affair - 1962), Le Repos du Guerrier (Love on a Pillow - 1962), Viva Maria! (1965) and A Coeur Joie (Two Weeks in September - 1967)

December 4, 2011
Ah... Claude Jade.
Not only is Baisers Volés (Stolen Kisses) my favorite François Truffaut movie, but one of my favorite French movies, period.
And this US poster is definitely the best for the movie, which is an anomaly by itself..

Futures Vedettes (School for Love)
For my burgeonning Brigitte Bardot collection, this gorgeous (the picture doesn't do it justice) French poster (1955, 47x63in, on linen)

November 2, 2011
1966's Il Buono, il Brutto, il Cattivo. Lots of re-releases for this French poster drawn by Jean Mascii.. Arguably one of the best designs on the title. This is from the 1968 original French release.

October 26, 2011
Just bought this nice 6-sheet (81x81in) for Sergio Leone's C'Era una Volta il West ( Once Upon a Time in the West). One piece at a time, here's my little collection so far:

October 23, 2011
Got a Star Wars 40x60in tonight. I think it will look really good next to my Empire Strikes Back of the same size.

October 13, 2011
Laura (1944) (French 47x63in on linen)
And thus, it arrived. I'm quite excited about this one.

September 29, 2011
Nothing really exciting coming in, kinda bored... Waiting for my biggest poster EVER (should be here in a couple of weeks, super excited)... Til then, since I just acquired a rolled Australian poster, here are a few Jaws items from around the world...

September 24, 2011
A few classics had new posters made in France this year. Here are some examples (all posters 47x63in):
Once Upon a Time in the West, The King of Comedy, Vivre Sa Vie, How to Steal a Million, Wild at Heart, Once Upon a Time in America, The Magnificent Seven, Badlands, Point Blank

September 21, 2011
American Horror Story (2011) (US Bus Shelters)
Although I have zero idea what this FX show is about, I find the US advertizing campaign top notch.

September 11, 2011
La Parisienne (1957) (French, 47x63in)

August 24, 2011
Suspiria (1977) (30th Anniversary French Re-Release, 47x63in)

August 19, 2011
La Mariée Est Trop Belle (Her Bridal Night) (1956)

Il Profumo della Signora in Nero (The Perfume of the Lady in Black) (1974)

August 18, 2011
2 recent Argento acquisitions

Dario Argento most definitely is one of the world's greatest Masters of Horror.
I finally managed to get enough of his Italian posters to call it the beginning of a collection.

My last favorite purchases ( Not necessarily the most expensive, or the rarest, but the ones I care the most about)

12+1 (1969, French, 47x63in) - Sharon Tate's last movie was released posthumously (Was it originally called 13?)

Once Upon a Time in the West and The Conspirators (1968 and 1969, Italian 4-Foglios, 55x78in) - I love these 2 Claudia Cardinale posters, probably because she is so drop-dead gorgeous

Red Desert (1964, French, 47x63in) - Antonioni + Vitti = Masterpiece and great, great poster (probably one of my favs in quite a while)

Dr. No (1962, French, 15x30in) - One of the best Bond posters, IMO

Some of my Favorite Poster Artists Websites
Hi All, fellow collectors and visitors...
Just a few notes about this collection of original movie posters:
1) It is a work in progress. Money is an issue and I am only including pictures of posters I personally own. I keep adding them up on a weekly basis.
2) These posters are not for sale. I started collecting movie paper in 2001 and quickly amassed more than 5,000 US one sheets, British quads, French (47x63in) and other foreign posters, that ended up in tubes where I could never see them. So my wife created this website for my own personal gratification and enjoyment. It was the simplest way for me to look at my posters without unrolling them and risking to damage them.
3) I live in Los Angeles and work at a studio where I made a lot of contacts. Thus I end up getting a lot of the newer posters for free. I keep them notheless and included them to my collection. I'll let you guess which ones!
4) I have tried to organize this collection by themes (Academy Awards nominated pictures, Steven Spielberg films, Alfred Hitchcock films, James Bond films, Clint Eastwood films etc.), and by countries, French, German, Italian, Japanese and British posters (so far). As it turns out, foreign promotional campaigns are sometimes far superior to their American counterpart.
So I know this collection is not as amazing as some others I have seen, I do not have an original "Casablanca" or "Lawrence of Arabia" but I'm working at it.
Maybe if I work a little harder... Enjoy!
